Pit Fired Pottery

This work is fired in an open pit or similar structure where wood is laid on top of and around the pots and then burned.  Sometimes salts, seaweed, and other organic materials are laid around pots to add color to the finished work.  As the wood burns, it deposits variable color and effects on the surface of porous pots.  To learn more, visit my methodologies page.
